While Emily & Lucas met in an “uninteresting way”, they knew they were meant to be when they were able to share a 450-square-foot apartment together for two years before getting married. Once engaged, they knew they wanted a spacious and natural setting where all of their friends and family could spend the weekend with each other. Luckily, Barnsley Resort fit the bill and helped create their perfect wedding weekend alongside the Magnolia Celebrates team.
The couple knew instantly after falling in love with Barnsley’s bamboo and muscadine grape vines inside the meditation garden that they wanted to utilize this gorgeous space for their first look. Taking note, their florist, Flower’s by Yona, accentuated the greenery by adding a variety of lush pink flowers as well as dripping lights over the estate tables, elevating the romantic ambiance for their big day. The family had a hand in the details, as Emily’s mother, Cathy, created the barrettes that the flower girls wore in their hair during the ceremony. But the night wouldn’t have been complete without the entertainment from Party Nation, which kept their guests dancing until the very end.
While so many memories were made that day, together Emily & Lucas cherished the wedding vows they wrote to each other the most. But, in a close second, they loved their first dance. “We choreographed our first dance together in our apartment in the weeks leading up to the wedding,” said Emily. “It was a thrill to share our wackiness with our guests and we will never forget the joy on their faces while we danced our first dance as husband and wife.”
With their big day being such a success, Emily & Lucas want future couples planning their wedding to know: “It’s easy to stress when planning a wedding – take a step back, breathe, and enjoy the process of planning YOUR wedding! It goes by far too quickly so remember to be present throughout your planning and especially throughout the main event. We made a pact to stay together throughout the duration of our wedding and reception and are so glad we did. Staying together kept us grounded and calm.”
