We are so delighted to see the resurgence in the wedding world of a more formal affair. It’s classic turned up a notch or two and this gorgeous wedding couldn’t be a more perfect example. With imagery by Melissa McClure Photography, this gem is an elegant palette of cream and blush with a classic formal dinner all designed by a member of our wedding directory, the uber-talented Kristin Watkins from Stephanie Rose Events. With her stylish eye and creativity, Kristin crafted one of her usual beautiful bashes. The entire fete is Southern California elegance at it’s finest!

The Theme
Stephanie (the bride) knew exactly what she wanted when we started planning. She loved the way Omni La Costa married a young, modern energy with gorgeous Southern California views and 5 star service. She also knew she wanted a sophisticated look to her event in white, cream and blush with pops of gold. When she bought her dress with the beaded bodice, we incorporated more sparkle into the event through crystals and rhinestone elements at the tables and the belts the bridesmaids wore, in order to mimic the style of the dress.
The Ceremony
The romantic ceremony was held overlooking the golf course under a gorgeous canopy draped in blush and white flowers. The bridesmaids were stunning in matching blush gowns. The bride’s gold sparkle shoes and her crystal topped gown set the tone for the black-tie affair. During the ceremony, the couple nailed a bottle of wine into a custom wooden box to be opened on their 1st wedding anniversary.
A Weekend Affair
Stephanie and Jeff knew they wanted an outdoor wedding venue with a modern, fresh look. They also wanted a space where their friends and family could spend time together during the wedding weekend. La Costa Resort and Spa fit that description perfectly. Most of the couple’s 200 guests checked into the resort for a full weekend of wedding activities.
The Reception
As guests arrived at the reception, they were greeted with glasses of champagne tied with their seating cards. The reception in the Poinsettia Ballroom featured tall blush and white centerpieces on cut glass candelabras with crystals and mercury glass candles, gold chiavari chairs, a pink and white candy station, a donut bar, live music and pale pink uplights. Stephanie is very close with her family and they were involved in every detail of the wedding planning. Stephanie’s mom made all of the ivory and gold overlays on the tables and her dad made the draped cake table backdrop. Family friends provided all of the silver trays used for the donut bar.
Unique Details
The groom is a firefighter, so the entrance to the reception held models of vintage fire trucks to honor his profession. He also pulled off a huge surprise when he jumped on stage and sang a song he wrote just for the bride to open the reception. He had coordinated the song and music with the band so they even sang back-up! The cake knife the couple used was a family heirloom used for every major family celebration and engraved with each users names and celebration dates.
