This modern South Asian wedding day is unlike anything you’ve seen before. Sana and Shanel along with their talented wedding planner Fetelle Designs created a chic traditional twist and made it pure magic. With bold gold elements and jaw-dropping florals, it’s everything you didn’t know you needed at your wedding.
From the tiniest details like the classy boutonnieres to the epic acrylic sweetheart table every piece of the day was immaculately planned. For the couple, they wanted to make sure that every detail represented them while also honoring their different heritages. Sana, a Muslim bride, and Shanel, a Hindu groom wanted to have a western wedding but highlight a few traditions that were important to them and their families.
They incorporated their heritage in a few key ways: their clothes, jewelry, and South Asian food. Sana even had their journey factored into her henna, from their sorority and fraternity symbols at the college they first met to his name on her ring finger. Every traditional touch was equally balanced by fun modern elements. Our favorite twist was on the traditional wedding outfit. Normally tradition has the bride wearing red, but Sana knew she wanted a more modern look with a gorgeous shade of mint green with delicate details of pastel peach.
Perhaps the most stunning part of the day was their romantic candle-lit wedding reception. With tons of glass, acrylic, and gold details it felt so unique and modern. We especially loved how they turned their sweetheart table into a focal point of the reception. With a clear acrylic table overflowing with white flowers down to tons of candles below it was a gorgeous sight to be seen!
