THE WEDDING FASHION
“I knew I wanted wine colored bridesmaid dresses from the beginning since we were getting married in wine country in the fall. I wanted to find a classy, pretty dress that didn’t look so much like a bridesmaid dress and it was important to me that it would be a dress that I would wear. I love the Katie Mae dress we found at Nordstrom and so did my bridesmaids. As for the groom and groomsmen attire, I have always thought suspenders with tux’s have a very classic, cool look and I knew that would play off the bridesmaids dresses nicely. Sean and I talked about whether he would wear his uniform or a tux and in the end mainly because of balance (since no groomsmen were military) we went with tux. With my dress I wanted all satin with lace sleeves. I ended up with 2 dresses in one which was a pretty cool effect for ceremony versus reception. We bought an all satin strapless mermaid cut dress and added a lace bolero. I took off the bolero for the reception and added a sparkly belt for two different looks.”
THE FLOWERS
“The buildings at Calipaso are painted a faint yellow with burgundy shutters. So I wanted to play off of that with the flowers. Yellow, burgundy, red, white and ivory were the colors I knew we had to incorporate and Kim (our ingenious florist) suggested we add an orange or pink to ensure the burgundy didnt look black in the photos. So we chose to keep the fall theme and go with orange. I only specified that I wanted to carry white roses and the colors that I wanted Kim to utilize for the flowers. I sent a few photos from Pinterest of centerpieces and I asked if she could create a topper for the fountain in the courtyard with fairy lights and she made everything even more beautiful than I could have imagined. We had two huge arrangements at the alter, bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, and small arrangements on cocktail tables. Calipaso is filled with florals and ivy so we didn’t need to add much.”
