From the bride:

“From the very beginning, we wanted our wedding to be something out of a storybook (a southern fairytale). We had big plans for our wedding, but with those big plans came a hefty price. Things changed after I had a near death experience with my health. It opened my eyes to what was really important about this wedding, which was marrying the man who never left my side as I lay in a hospital bed for days. After I was released from the hospital, my plans changed. I decided not to use a wedding planner, and actually took the whole wedding planning process into my own hands. I started doing tons of research on different wedding blogs and websites and found the most gorgeous bed and breakfast in historic Georgetown, South Carolina known as Mansfield Plantation. It was a beautiful plantation, where scenes from “The Notebook” were shot. Just minutes from the Bed and Breakfast, there’s another planation, known as Wedgefield Plantation. It’s a stunning wedding venue with live oak trees and the Manor House that was perfect for our blush and gold, southern wedding. Making these changes lead us to the most spectacular vendors we could of ever asked for. Our florist has now become one of our most treasured friends. Our jazz band is local and plays at a restaurant every Friday night. Also, our photographer became like family. I decided to do all my d?cor DIY. I did a lot of research and got exactly what I wanted. I did it all in my budget. Thank you to all the wonderful vendors on Etsy.com that created one-of-a-kind pieces for me. The day was everything I ever wanted and more. For someone who almost missed this experience, it was truly my perfect, southern fairytale. Heartwarming love story told by the GROOM Life comes and goes in a flash, some longer than others. It’s made of memories; some memorable, others we hope to forget. But, sometimes, it’s the troubles and turbulence you hit on life’s flight that really makes you grasp on to the things closest to you.We grew up 15 minutes from one another for years. We may have bumped shoulders a few times without even knowing it. We were meant to be, but had no clue.15 minutes turned into 15 feet when we first met. It was at a gym. It’s there where we fell in love. It took time for our relationship to blossom, because like most good things, they don’t come easy. But a year after our first date, we were bickering over whose turn it was to do the dishes. One dish lead to another and we then found our landing spot in South Carolina, home of the most ridiculously humid weather. It doesn’t get more muggy and hot than July, which is a month that would change our lives forever. Most view the 4th of July as the day that represents the nation’s independence. We see it as the first day of our engagement. It was also three months before the biggest test of our lives. Tara was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and spent two extensive nights in the intensive care unit, where I sat by her side, losing my mind, but at the same time, I fell more and more in love with her.I gained a glimpse of what it was like to lose her. God had a different plan. He gave her strength because there was no way this story would end there.Exactly 289 days went by since Independence Day and we tied the knot on our southern fairytale. Under a large live oak tree, we looked each other in the eyes, joined hands, kissed and committed to spend the rest of our lives together. The same lives that lived minutes from one another. The same lives that may have never met, yet were always meant to become one.”
