“We are each other's first love. We met at University during 2nd year; we took the same business class and the teacher randomly put us into the same team for a group project. For our first group meeting, only 2 of us showed up and that’s how we first met.
The proposal happened in Sydney, Australia. In summer 2015, I went to Australia for work. Roy came to Sydney shortly after, for what I thought was just a visit. Instead, he surprised me with the most romantic proposal.
On the second day Roy arrived in Sydney, he brought me to a casual dinner on a private estate. At least that’s what he said. But when we entered the restaurant, it was empty. Roy told me he needed to go to the bathroom and asked me to wait in the lobby, so I did.
A lady suddenly approached me with a letter and a huge box. When I opened it, I was shocked to see a little white dress! I got dressed and was walked to the backyard with my eyes covered. I couldn’t see, but I could hear the harp playing.
Then, my eyes were uncovered and I opened my eyes to see Roy. He was right in front of me and waiting for me. The backyard was beautifully decorated with candles and flowers. Everything felt so unreal. To this day, I can’t fully remember what he told me as he proposed to me, but I said yes without hesitation.”
“I always dreamed of having a destination wedding since I was a little girl.Roy and I traveled together a lot, but Hawaii was the place we loved the most for its natural beauty and wonderful climate. Compared to other islands in Asia or the Caribbean, it’s not as humid with no mosquitos. Hawaii was perfect for an outdoor wedding.
Also, we wanted our guests to enjoy their time if they were traveling for our wedding – Hawaii has so many famous sightseeing places, they could do so much more after the wedding ceremony.”
“My vision for my wedding was a beautiful outdoor wedding facing the ocean and surrounded by palm trees. The Four Season’s oceanfront lawn matched perfectly with my imagination. We wanted our wedding to look elegant and romantic. So we chose soft
We wanted our wedding to look elegant and romantic. So we chose soft colored florals (pink, peach, mint, etc) to decorate the wedding. These colors worked well with the natural color palette of Hawaii.”
“My wedding dress is from Watters. I chose it because of I loved the design and the material felt nice. After trying out many, many dresses, I felt the sweetheart A line dress looked the best on me. Also, the dress is light and flowy, which was perfect for my beach wedding.”
“My advice to couples planning their wedding is to have a wedding planner. It will really help you a lot. Also, choose your photographer and videographer 1 year before the wedding. The famous/popular ones are easily fully booked.
I also think it’s fun to prepare some surprises for each other at the wedding. Lastly, prepare to spend about 20-30% more than your budget!”
“Our wedding was full of surprises and things we’ve never done before. Roy and I have never danced (individually or together) before but began to learn our first choreography two months before our wedding. We hired a dance teacher to make the choreography to the songs: Thinking Out Loud and Uptown Funk. It was a fun experience for us, and it really surprised all our guests. Roy sang a surprise song for me. Nobody has ever heard him singing in the past, let alone on a stage. I think it’s the only time anyone will hear him sing again.I prepared a dance with four of my girlfriends for Roy. We danced to a k-pop song, and I think it was a success.”
