What inspiration brought the theme or decor together?
I was definitely inspired by the holiday season, but didn’t want the wedding to feel too “Christmas”. Using the deep reds and purples with lots of greens made it feel more winter than Christmas. Combined with the fireplaces and candles helps the atmosphere feel warm and cozy as well.
Tell me a bit about the event in your own words.
I wanted the wedding to feel formal but not stuffy. I love flowers, so having a lot of lush floral arrangements mixed with the formal furniture and a foyer in the mansion made the wedding feel special. The sports themed bar, warm fire places, and little cozy sitting rooms made the wedding feel more intimate and relaxed. I thought that combination of both spoke to the holiday season in December. I stayed away from Christmas colors or red and green, opting for more deep purples, fuchsia, and cream mixed with a lot of greenery. We used a lot of mercury glass as well, which felt festive without feeling “Christmas-y”
Any unique or interesting elements you want to point out.
I loved the photo of myself with my flower girl under my veil. I’m actually wearing her mother’s veil as my “something borrowed”. I imagine I will be giving her a copy of this photo on her wedding day. I loved the bar, full of sports memorabilia from Baltimore Colt’s football player Art Donovan (who owned the mansion our reception was held in). It was a great contrast to the formality of the mansion and our male guests loved it.
