Finally, the first day of spring has arrived! We have made it through the cold wintery days and now it is time to enjoy warmer weather, freshly bloomed flowers, and beautifully styled shoots for a little inspiration! So hang on tight darlings, we’re taking you to California for a Southern styled affair.

Don’t let the location of this ridiculously gorgeous styled shoot fool you. California may be known for the most beautiful beaches in the world, but it doesn’t mean that a little Southern style can’t charm the pants off the Golden State and we only have Photographer, Kelsea Holder & Zest it Up event designer and caterer to credit for that! But, it wouldn’t be a marvelous wedding without a Southern belle- bride full of beauty, charm, and style to light up the lush San Luis Obispo backyard. Replete with deep green vegetation, drooping sycamores and a private tree-house platform, this private backyard made for a dreamy Southern inspired wedding shoot.

Featuring a modern twist on southern comfort is the sweet tea station complete with lemon, lavender, and blueberry simple syrups to awaken the taste buds. Followed by good ol’ homemade cooking; buttermilk biscuits with apple butter, chicken n’ waffles skewers doused with honey, lobster and crawfish ravioli and some sweet grilled peaches topped with mascarpone and honey. But, just because it’s good ol’ country cooking, doesn’t mean it is not ultra fabulous- the canopy of sycamore trees dripping with diamonds and luxurious linens. Amongst vintage silverware and dainty magnolia china, the evening gets sweeter with individual honey jar and wand favors served on a golden peau de soie tablecloth with a subtle leafy motif.
After dinner it’s off to a stroll in the whimsical backyard wedding surrounded by hues worthy of a “Georgia peach,” a ruffled- ombre layered cake, and fabulous finishing touches of white candle displays.
To end a perfect day, the gentile ‘scarlet bride,’ wrapped in yards of rich lace accented by a brooch that could be an heirloom passed down through the generations, is escorted by Southern gentlemen into her happily ever after.
