From photographer Anna Schmidt…

What inspiration brought the theme or décor together?

The venue itself was the inspiration for this wedding.  The Engineer’s Club is a 19th century mansion with dark wood paneling and gilded moulding, reminiscent of European architecture.  The dining room is lined with a maroon and gold flourish patterned wallpaper.  The bride drew on all of these elements of this exquisite venue for her color palette of neutrals, gold, and dark red.

Tell me a bit about the event in your own words.

Two days after Christmas Ashley and Jon celebrated their marriage at the Engineer’s Club in Baltimore, Maryland.  Their choice of venue was especially important to the groom, as his father is a lifelong member and former president of the club.  The Engineer’s Club is home to the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion, built in the 19th century. It has an exquisitely crafted wood paneled lobby area with a fireplace hearth and a beautiful spiral staircase- and that is just the entranceway alone.  The rest of the venue was built and decorated with elegance- gilded moulding and marble adorn the walls.  They could not have chosen a better venue for their sophisticated winter wedding.  It was a joy to work with Asha, the Engineer’s Club event coordinator- she is the sweetest!  Overall, this was a truly exciting and wonderful wedding!

Any unique or interesting elements you want to point out?

– Ashley’s gorgeous red Badly Mischka heels and her stunning Maggie Sottero gown!

– I photographed Ashley’s Maggie Sottero gown outside of the Engineer’s Club Votta Room, named after the groom’s father.

– The first look and the group portraits took place in Baltimore’s historical Mount Vernon Square, home to the Mount Vernon monument that was built in 1815 to honor the first President of the United States.

–  Bride and groom portraits were also taken at a beautiful gothic cathedral in Baltimore.  The cathedral’s red doors worked perfectly with the bride’s color palette.

– The groom carved the “Mr. & Mrs.” centerpiece for the couple’s sweetheart table and decorated it with gold glitter.

– The bride’s father passed away a few years ago so her mother-daughter dance was an especially sweet and sentimental part of the night.
